Your Cosmetic Consult
A variety of treatment options are usually available to every patient ranging from simple bonding’s that can be completed in 1 visit to more complex dental procedures.
Your initial consultation with our dentists will involve a dental examination with radiographs. We will discuss what you are most concerned about regarding your teeth.
We take Extra oral and Intra oral photos and we will also use our smile design programme to help visualise the look that you are after.
If you are interested in one of the discussed treatment options and choose to explore the option further we will take impressions to provide a “mock up of the teeth”- also known as a diagnostic wax up to help you visualise how it will look. ( A wax up/radiographs will incur a fee).
Tooth Whitening
Merrion Road Dental provides bleaching that will usually improve the shade of your teeth by 4/5 shades whiter.
You will be provided with a take home kit that will help you achieve a whiter, brighter smile in a few days.
Our dentists will make custom made trays that will fit your mouth perfectly.
It’s a quick, no hassle appointment with the end result of white teeth.
*We usually recommend a scale and polish prior to bleaching to ensure desired effect.
Dental Bondings (composite veneers)
It is a simple cosmetic procedure that can be completed in one visit. We can very often complete this treatment without local anaesthetic.
Dental Bondings can be used to mask discolourations, small gaps, correct rotations and give a fuller smile. Dental bondings can give the appearance of straight teeth without the need for orthodontics or removing sound tooth structure.
Crowns (Caps)
Crowns are used to strengthen teeth that have very large restorations or to restore teeth that are too broken down to hold an alternate restoration. They are often placed after root canal treatment to improve the seal of the tooth and strengthen the core.
Crowns are also used for aesthetic purposes to improve the appearance of broken, malaligned or discoloured teeth. Crowns can be made from metal, metal fused to porcelain or pure porcelain.
All porcelain crowns will give the optimum aesthetics and we usually recommend using only porcelain on anterior teeth.
Posts and Cores
When there is not enough tooth structure available to place a crown alone, we often need to build up the tooth by using a post and core. This procedure is carried out after root canal treatment of the tooth. The root is then prepared for the post and an impression is sent to the lab.
When the post and core is cemented, we will then have enough tooth structure for a crown.
Veneers
Veneers are made from the most aesthetic porcelain by the lab to custom fit your teeth. They are used to achieve the most aesthetic result possible whilst retaining as much tooth structure as possible.
In Surgery Veneers: We can also build up your tooth with a composite veneer which can be completed in one setting. This can improve the appearance of a tooth within 1 hour.
Bridges
Bridges are an excellent and aesthetic options to replace missing teeth but are reliant on there being solid supportive remaining teeth either side of the space.
Implants
An implant is a titanium screw that is placed directly into the bone replacing teeth without using any other teeth for support. Once the titanium screw is integrated with the bone we can place a dental crown (see above) to complete the restoration. We work together with an oral surgeon to provide the best implant treatment possible.
